Applications made of unsaturated polyester molding compounds feature high dimensional stability under heat, good electrical insulation properties and a very good surface-detail reproduction. The problem: The initial materials are not free-flowing. Therefore corresponding articles have to be manufactured using injection molding machines, which are equipped with special feed units. KraussMaffei provides you with the right solution with the PolySet process. The patented Polyload AZ screw loader perfectly feeds the material, and the PolySet plasticizing unit is optimally matched to the materials.
Polyload AZ ideally feeds the material that does not flow freely—fiberglass-reinforced polyester and vinyl ester compounds such as BMC, DMC and SMC. It is tempered in the plasticizing unit and then injected into the heated mold. The molded material becomes cured through the effects of heat and pressure. With the plasticizing unit developed specially for the PolySet process, the barrel, which is temperature-controlled using liquid, provides process-compatible melt temperatures. The optimized screw geometry enables fiber-friendly processing. Cold-runner nozzles reduce material consumption and shorten cycle times. Functions such as compression molding and mold breathing are already included in the standard program.
With the PolySet series from KraussMaffei, you benefit from many and various technical advantages: The patented AZ feed units feature the ability to take in larger material quantities. The high store of material means no additional cycle interruption for refilling, thus fewer downtimes and startup times. The AZ feed systems are self-cleaning and low maintenance. The precise material metering and stuffing pressure closed-loop control ensure the homogeneity and quality of the articles produced. The plasticizing unit is gentle on the fibers during processing. The self-cleaning hopper substantially minimizes the maintenance effort.
Crosslinking plastics are ideal for making technical components where the performance profile demands high dimensional and thermal stability. KraussMaffei has been working with processing these since 1958 and has acquired enormous expertise in this industry. PolySet machines are available with clamping force sizes from 350 to 6,500 kN and offer you great precision surpassing all classes, first-class shot weight consistency, uniform process conditions and a uniquely long service life.
The clamping unit side features the precise and rugged mechanical system with two-platen technology from KraussMaffei. With their strong wear-resistance, the plasticizing units are engineered for high processing quality. In addition to application-specific screw geometries, the mechanical anti-rotation devices and special check valves ensure constant shot weights. With its in-house solutions, KraussMaffei also ensures the automated material flow from the raw materials feed to post-mold processing, the prerequisite for effective molded parts production.
