Proficiency in clean injection moulding production with Krauss Maffei CX series
Proficiency in clean injection moulding production
Krauss-Maffei injection moulding machines convince with the production of plastics articles, produced under clean room conditions. Two examples of applications are demonstrated at K2004 by Krauss-Maffei.
Clean room productions can be divided into two categories. With technical products quality of purity is usually determined by the size and number of foreign particles. In addition, the quality of medical products is defined by their low germ-count. Krauss-Maffei offers competent solutions for both specifications.
At K2004, Krauss-Maffei demonstrates with the example of a KM 35-90 CX a production line for medical articles, which in corresponding surroundings meets the specifications of germ-free class A to FDA-GMP. At the Exhibition, pipettes are produced on a 20 impression mould as an application example. In this instance, only the compact self-supporting clamping unit of the KM 35-90 CX protrudes into the clean room. The clamping unit can be retracted from the clean-room for mould changing or maintenance work. A new drive system was developed for that purpose.
In order to ensure optimum cleanliness, the machine-cover positioned in the cleanroom is essentially made of stainless steel (V2A) or glass and designed to encourage airflow.
So that the high cleanliness specifications can be met even after the injection moulding process, the articles are demoulded by a robot, which also fulfils the freedom from germs class conditions. The articles are subsequently checked and separated into single items. The whole of the automation technology is designed by Krauss-Maffei Automation.
At K2004 Krauss-Maffei shows a KM 80-390 CX, which is suitable for production in a technical clean room. The machine is equipped with a 64-impression tool, on which a protector is moulded by way of example. In this case the interior of the clamping unit receives cleaned air from a laminar flow box. A clean room approved reject-separating switching-point system linked to a corresponding conveyor belt completes the machine design. Krauss-Maffei markets this equipment for the C-range and - as far as possible - for the MX range as well.
